Amidst a pile of grey dead bodies, I see two eyes wide open.
Two green eyes. Pale green eyes.
It’s not the lush green of the morning grass. Neither is it the green on the leaves, of a young plant.
This green is pale. A green so pale that the greys emanate more colour.
I walk towards the eyes hastily. My feet sink into the grey sand with each step I take. After several steps, I’m neck deep into the sand and my target is just a few inches away.
It is then that I look into the green eyes.
I realise I have arrived at my destination. I notice a strange reflection. My body goes numb, part by part and the reflection becomes more clear,
The reflection of two pale green eyes.
Amidst a pile of grey dead bodies, I see two eyes wide open,
My pale green eyes.
