Fishermen at work

I had been to Goa this month. Got back yesterday after an 8 day trek in the Western ghats. Lots of photos to share. Will share the trek experience very soon.

Here is one photo which I got on the beach when the fishermen were washing their catch,

Lepakshi

Lepakshi is a small village located in the Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It’s about 120 kms north of Bangalore. One can take a bus/train to Hindupur and then travel to Lepakshi.
What does Lepakshi mean?
It’s said that when Ravana abducted goddess Sita, the mighty bird Jatayu fought against him and died here. Later on when Lord Rama sees Jatayu lying on the ground, he says, “Le Pakshi” , meaning “Rise, oh bird”, and hence the name “Lepakshi”.

There are three temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Virabhadra out of which the Virabhadra temple is the most important.
The architecture is beautiful and is an example of the Vijayanagar style. It contains some of the finest sculpture of the period and beautiful Mural paintings can be seen on the ceiling (most of them have deteriorated due to age and lack of proper maintenance).
